I don’t have any real voice training so I just go by my experience and its been pretty limited. I’m thinking of trying out my own music on a bigger scale since I don’t want to spend all my time covering someone else’s music. I found an online, ‘American Idol’ like contest called MakeAStar that seems legit. They offer a prize each month and realtime voting so I thought it might be a good way to get my name out. Thoughts?

Hi Alexandra,
From the little bit you are telling me about yourself, I would say to get vocal training FIRST, then enter a contest. You must, must, must be ready before you try to get your name out there. There are many elements that go into making a star – talent is just one of many. Raw talent is great, but a star has what we call craft – the experience and knowledge to blend talent and technique. Jumping out there before you are ready is sure to end your career before it begins. Check out this website. It’s the best and lest expensive route to a star-quality voice.
All the best!

Sally
