Professional Singer Secrets – Build a Support Team
-
The barriers to stardom are many. The tough part is that those most of those barriers are created by the potential star herself! It’s your thoughts – how you think about singing, performing, how others might judge your singing, fear of saying to the world, ‘I am a singer. Here’s what I have to say!’
That’s a big bold statement. An essential statement for a performer to make. Any performer who does not fully commit to saying to their audience, ‘I am a singer. Here’s what I have to say!’ is not worth the listening.

And yet to commit your heart and soul to saying ‘I am a singer. Here’s what I have to say!’ every single day is heavy. It’s a huge responsibility and can feel way too vulnerable. That is why there are so few singers who actually make it big in the biz.
How do the stars go out there on the stage and risk it all night after night after night? They have balls of steel. Do you think they are shaking in their boots? Yes, they are. I heard Celine Dion at the beginning of a concert say that she was very nervous about the concert she was about to sing. Seems impossible, but she was telling the truth. She was afraid, but she did it anyway. And the show was amazing.

Celine Dion and other starts like her have a coaching staff. People who help her get ready and stay in shape vocally, physically and mentally for each performance. She doesn’t do it all on her own. I know of singing stars who won’t take the stage unless their voice teacher is right there in the wings!
If you are the next Celine Dion or Pink or Amy Winehouse or Jason Mraz start building your support team now. Read about the stars you admire. I don’t mean read about who they are dating, I mean read about how they got where they are today. Who influenced their music, whose music did they listen to, do they write their own songs, did they write with other people.
Find out how the stars got the courage to put their music and their hearts and souls out in public for all to hear and see. Begin putting your support team together. The first step for many of you is to get a great vocal trainer – of course I am prejudice – contact me about getting started!
